Plenty of racing action took place throughout the Mid-Atlantic this past week.
Here’s a look at the “three stars” of each track:
LAUREL PARK
- Racing at Laurel Park was cancelled last week, due to weather and track issues.
CHARLES TOWN RACES
- Racing at Charles Town was cancelled last week, due to weather and track issues.
PARX RACING
- FIRST STAR: BOLD CONFECTION. This newly-turned 4-year-old filly made her 2022 debut a winning one last Wednesday, as she took a n/w2x allowance optional claiming race by 1 1/4 lengths. Sent off as the 1-1 choice, she dueled with Philadelphia Belle early on, backed off that rival rounding the turn, and took charge in the stretch to win. Kendrick Carmouche was in the saddle for owner Louisiana Leasing LLC and trainer John Servis.
- SECOND STAR: PARSIMONY. Earlier on the Wednesday card, Parsimony, who was graded-stakes placed earlier in his career, won a Pennsylvania-bred allowance in a hard-fought effort. As the heavy favorite, he dueled with the biggest longshot in the field, Northern Express, most of the way, but got the better of him late and won by a half-length. He’s owned by Spedale Family Racing LLC and Flying P Stable, trained by Danny Gargan, and was also ridden by Carmouche.
- THIRD STAR: THUNDERSHOOK. After a three-win campaign last year, Thundershook started his 2022 season off on a winning note on Tuesday, as he won a starter optional claiming race by 4 3/4 lengths. He made a bold move on the final turn of the seven-furlong contest and drew off to a decisive win. He’s owned by Run to Win Stable and Jagger Inc, trained by Jamie Ness, and ridden by Ruben Silvera.
