Picks and analysis for this afternoon’s card from Delaware Park:
- RACES ON CARD: 8
- CARRYOVERS: None
- POST TIME: 12:30 p.m.
RACE 1
| 3. Chelsea Wall | Arrives on 2-race heater, latest against open claimers; should get a good trip off the speed |
| 4. Carroll Girl | Improved outing in latest and makes third start off the bench; figures to be one-two in the early running |
| 5. Date Night Kisses | Has her moments; trainer Ness is 30% second off the claim |
RACE 2
| 7. Estrellis | Showed a little speed in a pair of ’24 starts and arrives here with new trainer Nazario; hoping they’ve worked out the gate issues |
| 1. Bella Creed | Didn’t run badly in latest in a race that’s produced a next-out winner and four others to run in the money next out |
| 6. Fontabelle | Has seen much better |
RACE 3
| 5. Edge of Town | May be rounding back into better form, and this field, light on early lick, may allow her to showcase her zip to best effect |
| 7. Bella Queen | Uncharacteristically far back in latest but closed nicely; shouldn’t be so far back this time |
| 1. I’m a Cutie Pie | Makes third start off the bench following improved outing in latest |

RACE 4
| 2. Aranciata | Made up significant ground in latest but was left with a lot to do; expecting the pace to be more moderate in this contest |
| 5. Pretty Thing | Likely to go hunting the early lead but may have company |
| 11. Major Mayhem | Not entirely sold on the gaudy Beyer fig in latest, but if it’s right, this one’s a major player at a price if drawing in |
| 4. Like a Dream | Made season bow a winning one in a race that’s produced two next-out winners |
RACE 5
| 6. Maida | Throttled LRL maiden foes in latest and show horse broke her maiden here Aug. 6; should be controlling speed |
| 4. M J’s Yoshida | Not at all hating this one’s efforts: since breaking her maiden by a pole, she went up to the Spa to face allowance foes and then returned home to tangle with millionaire multiple graded stakes winner Mystic Lake in a race in which she bested stakes winner Safe Trust; plenty of upside |
| 5. You’re the One | Formful sort saw two-race win streak snapped by red-hot Cuz Ur Pretty in a two-other-than; should be pressing early |
RACING NOTES
- Check out Delaware Park jockey and trainer stats here…
- Good-looking win for Sina ($2.40) on Friday, as the two-year-old Gun Runner filly graduated by five lengths at second asking in a time — 1:11.89 for six furlongs — that was almost exactly the same as the 1:11.90 it took older boys to do the distance four races later. Second on debut at Churchill Downs, she was ridden by Jaime Rodriguez for trainer Brett Brinkman…
- Sina’s win was one of two on the day for her pilot, Jaime Rodriguez. Also winning twice was jockey Kevin Gomez…
- On the trainer side, Brittany Russell won a pair, both with Gomez up…
- Trainer Jaclyn Reed earned her first career win in the opener, as High Heel Native won at first asking with Jose Mauricio in the irons…
- Did our top choice win the first five races in a row, producing payouts of $17.60, $4.40, $17.40, $2.40, and $2.80 and a pick 5 payout of $242.25 on a 50-cent wager? Funny you should ask. Why, yes, yes it did.
RACE 6
| 6. Centeya | Excellent effort when pressing the pace and just unable to withstand winner in latest in first off the bench; five runners have come out of that one to finish in the triple next |
| 5. Blonde Samaritan | Doesn’t win much but has mostly kept better company and flashes occasional good efforts |
| 3. Learning to Fly | Drops to better level after even effort |
RACE 7
| 3. Chipotle | Decisive winner in latest in race that was the functional equivalent of a first allowance; might be speed of the speed but can press if need be |
| 6. Heard On Thestreet | With some speed signed on this one could sit a good trip a bit off it; just missed in latest versus similar |
| 2. Boy Magic | No idea what this one might do off a nearly-two-year break, but the 2-for-2 record isn’t chopped liver, including a win over subsequent stakes winner Catahoula Moon; demand value |
RACE 8
| 2. Afraidofthebunny | Good try in latest when prevailing in a long duel through testing internal fractions before tiring late; first time in Sullivan barn |
| 3. Expensive Cut | Could be speed of the speed and might be tough to reel in if allowed to control |
| 7. Waldrip | Feels like there’s more in there somewhere for a horse who hasn’t quite gone forward yet as a 4yo |
