Upcoming sale, new stallions: The week in social media

The 2019 Maryland Stallion Showcase is coming up, the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic December Mixed and Horses of Racing Age Sale released its catalog, and a new stallion will be standing in Pennsylvania in 2020.

Maryland stallion showcase
On November 30, Laurel Park will host the 2019 Maryland Stallion Showcase. The showcase will begin at 8:00 a.m. and includes a free breakfast to those who attend.
The Stallion Showcase will feature Anchor & Hope Farm’s stallion Imagining, and Wasabi Venture Stallions’ Force the Pass, who will also be standing at Anchor & Hope Farm in 2020. There will also be multiple stallion representatives on hand at the event, including Paul O’Loughlin from Northview Stallions, Country Life and Merryland Farm’s Christy Holden, Billy Boniface and Sam Hopkins of Bonita Farm, Jim Steel from Shamrock Farm, Kent Murray from Murmur Farm, and Larry Johnson, who will be representing the stallion Street Magician.
A luncheon will take place after the stallion show, and will be held in the Ruffian Room, which is located on the second story of the Clubhouse. The stallion representatives will remain on hand during the luncheon for a meet and greet for those who are interested.
Fasig-Tipton Mixed Sale
The catalog for the 2019 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic December Mixed and Horses of Racing Age Sale is now available to the public. The mixed sale currently has a selection of 230 Thoroughbreds to choose from, ranging from weanlings to broodmares. The sale will be accepting supplemental entries until November 22.
This year the mixed sale will take place on Tuesday, December 10 at the Timonium Fairgrounds in Maryland. The sale will commence at 10:00 a.m. and will end once the last horse in the catalog exits the ring. Horses will be available for inspection beginning the weekend before the sale.
Command Post heads to PA
Pennsylvania gained another new stallion prospect, when it was announced that Command Post, a son of the late Harlan’s Holiday, has been retired from racing to stand at stud at WynOaks Farm in Delta, PA.
A winner of three races from seven starts, Command Post is best known for finishing a gritty third in the Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth Park in 2017. Campaigned by Gary and Mary West and conditioned by Jason Servis, Command Post collected earnings of $104,110 during his time on the track.
Command Post will stand for a fee of $2,000 (stands and nurses) in 2020. The stallion will be available for viewing during WynOaks Farm’s stallion show on November 24, which will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. WynOak Farm’s other stallions, Warrior’s Reward and Weigelia, will also be available for inspection during the show.
