Caravel earns nods as Top Midlantic-bred of 2022

Caravel, the Pennsylvania-bred mare who pulled a 42-1 shocker in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, earns the nod as the Top Midlantic-bred of 2022.

The Preakness “Art of Racing” contest will return this year, as 1/ST Racing, the Maryland Institute College of Art, and Park Heights team up.

The Maryland Thoroughbred Career Program, which provides young people the chance to learn about careers in the industry, is set for June 5-9.

Nominations close Saturday for six Laurel Park stakes that will be contested January 21, including four open races and two state-bred contests.

The 2023 Maryland Million day will take place October 14 at Laurel Park, Maryland Million Ltd. announced Thursday.
