Laurel Park among 8 NHC-eligible tracks

Laurel Park is the lone Midlantic track among those announce today as eligible for play at the NTRA National Horseplayers Championship.

James A. Lages, a steward for the last two years in Delaware, has been named chief state steward by the state’s Thoroughbred Racing Commission.

The finalists in various Maryland-bred categories, as well as top trainer, jockey, and owner, were announced January 17, with awards given Feb. 12.

Angel At War, whose first start was against maiden claimers, makes her stake debut in the What A Summer at Laurel riding a six-race win streak.

Multiple graded winner Favorite Tale, who won last out for the first time since 2015, will try to double up in the Fire Plug at Laurel Park.
