Three wins – but no Valentine – for trainer Javier Contreras

Trainer Javier Contreras won three races at Charles Town on Valentine’s Day – but was initially baffled when a friend called him Mr. Valentine.

Three-year-old Maryland-bred Still Having Fun took the next step on the Preakness trail, winning today’s Miracle Wood at Laurel Park.

Young trainer Kristy Gazzier, a Charles Town native just starting her second year training, says she “wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”

Trainer Ronney Brown saddled his 2,500th winner Wednesday at Charles Town; the road to 3,000, he said, begins with his next starter.

Maryland-bred Still Having Fun scored a flashy win in today’s Frank Whiteley, Jr. Stakes at Laurel Park and looks to have a bright future.
