Embarr took the lead in mid-stretch and held on to win the Dahlia Stakes at Pimlico for the second straight year.

Aunt Ellen hadn’t shown much in 10 winless starts. The light came on today, though, as she rolled up the center of the lane to win the Twixt Stakes.

Ben’s Cat opened his 2014 campaign on familiar turf, winning the Mister Diz Stakes at Pimlico for the fifth straight time.

Training great Dickie Small, who conditioned two members of the Maryland Thoroughbred Hall of Fame, has passed away.
